DrCs. GUSTAVO KOURÍ FLORES (1936-2011)
Abstract
El 5 de mayo del año 2011 -aniversario 193 del natalicio de Karl Marx- fallecióen La Habana, a los 75 años de edad, el Doctor en Ciencias, Profesor Titular y
de Mérito, Investigador Titular y Académico de Mérito, Gustavo Kourí Flores,
estudioso del dengue, su etiopatogenia y las estrategias de control y Director
Fundador del Instituto Nacional de Medicina Tropical, que lleva el nombre de su
padre, Pedro Kourí Esmeja.
Nació en La Habana, el 11 de enero de 1936. Nieto de libaneses inmigrantes
en Cuba, tiene el legítimo orgullo de ser hijo de Pedro Kourí Esmeja. Cursó sus
estudios en el Colegio de La Salle, en la capital, donde se graduó de bachiller
como "Alumno Eminente” en 1953. De inmediato inició sus estudios de
medicina en la Universidad de La Habana, viéndose obligado a interrumpirlos
por el cierre de la universidad en 1956.
