Abstract

Introduction: The geological massif is the material on which surface or subway constructions are built for social development. The presence of the construction site alters the natural stress field causing displacements in the massif.

Objective: To obtain a simple procedure that allows the forecast of the time needed for the stabilization of the Geological Massif.

Methods: Using the empirical method of investigation, they were compiled field and laboratory observations of subway and surface works to obtain the necessary data to prepare a procedure for the prognosis of the magnitude of the displacement and the time in which the Geological Massif stabilizes.

Results: They are predicted the value of the displacement (Δ) for a time (t), the quality of the Geologic Massif and the corresponding acting stress (σ).

Conclusions: The procedure can be applied in exploratory excavations, pilot excavations, slopes, in all works in which displacements against time can be measured.
