Sustainable land management in semi-arid zones: review of management models
Keywords:
Management Models, Sustainable Land Management (SLM), Semi-Arid ZonesAbstract
Sustainable land management in semi-arid zones is a novel system in Cuba and the world, so a systematic review of 9 459 articles was carried out in the period 2000 to 2023, on management models, sustainable land management, synthetic index of sustainable land management and state-pressure-response-impact indicators; the study was aimed at the semi-arid zone of the Guantánamo province. It was detected that sustainable land management practices in semi-arid areas are little addressed based on Management models, and that there is little literature on the subject. The results suggest the need for an adequate implementation of sustainable land management, support the continuity of research and the application of a sustainable land management model for the semi-arid zone, in which environmental indicators, sustainable agricultural production, people's quality of life are improved and contribute to the sustainability of the ecosystem.
