Abstract

Del 8 al 19 de Agosto de 2011, se celebró en el Instituto de Medicina Tropical “Pedro
Kourí” (IPK), la 12va edición del Curso Internacional de Dengue bajo el auspicio del
Ministerio de Salud de Cuba y la Organización Panamericana de la S (OPS), la
Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y el Programa Especial de la OMS para
Investigación y Entrenamiento en Enfermedades Tropicales (TDR). Organizado como
parte de las actividades que el Centro Colaborador de la OPS/OMS para el Estudio del
Dengue y su Vector del Instituto de Medicina Tropical “Pedro Kouri” realiza, tiene como
objetivo principal brindar a profesionales dedicados al estudio y enfrentamiento del
dengue, los aspectos mas avanzados en el manejo, control y prevención de esta
enfermedad a través de sesiones teóricas y prácticas. Como justo homenaje, el curso
se dedicó en esta ocasión en particular a la memoria del Prof. Gustavo Kouri
recientemente fallecido.
En total participaron 94 estudiantes extranjeros procedentes de 26 países y 145
estudiantes cubanos de diferentes provincias del país así como 37 personalidades
científicas extranjeras y más de 50 profesores cubanos, todos de reconocido prestigio
nacional e internacional.
