Validation of questionnaires for measuring participative management in the Cuban business context
Keywords:
participatory management; reliability; validity; questionnaire validationAbstract
Introduction: In the Cuban business context, participative management stands as a key approach to fostering collaboration, collective commitment, and job satisfaction. Now more than ever, it is critical to have precise empirical instruments to measure this phenomenon and identify the factors that facilitate or hinder its implementation.
Objective: To present the validation procedure for instruments designed to measure participative management in Cuban enterprises.
Methods: Empirical methods were employed, primarily the statistical techniques of Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient and exploratory factor analysis, to examine the reliability of the designed tools and their construct validity. In the qualitative domain, the expert judgment method was also utilized.
Results: The methods employed enabled the optimization of the number of indicators in the questionnaires by eliminating or reformulating initial items, thereby enhancing their rigor, precision, clarity, and reliability.
Conclusions: The designed instruments demonstrated statistical robustness as reliable and accurate tools for assessing key stakeholders’ perceptions of the determinants of participative management in Cuban enterprises.
