Introduction. This proposal focuses on the design and evaluation of the impact of the competences training program for the effective management of occupational safety and health (OSH), called GeSSTar. It is intended for the training of key human resources in OSH management, in a context characterized by insufficient opportunities for academic training and improvement in occupational health issues, factor management and psychosocial risks. The program is characterized by an integrated participatory systemic psychosocial approach to OSH. Objective: to evaluate the competences training program designed for the effective management of OSH.Methods. The mixed approach was selected as a methodological strategy, with a sequential exploratory design. Individual and group interviews, surveys, documentary analysis and group devices were used.
Results. Six key organizational competences for effective OSH management were identified and validated. These supported the design of the GeSSTar program, which was successfully validated by experts. This program was evaluated during, at the end, four months and one year after its implementation in a biotechnology company, providing evidence of the development of competences in the participants and the receiving organization. In parallel, program sessions were applied in mixed training workshops to various companies with good results.
