Open Science Policy

Previous publications and preprints: Anales de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba will not consider any research article that has been published – even in academic networks or institutional repositories – or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. However, the journal accepts articles that have been initially published on recognized preprint or preprint servers (MedRXiv, ArXiv, PubMed Central; SciELO Preprints), as a “green route” for science communication. In this case, the authors must mention in their submission the availability of the document on any of these servers and its exact location (URL). Likewise, it values the publication of articles that have been official communications from conferences or other types of scientific events as long as this information is declared transparently by the authors.

Data opening: Anales de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba promotes the openness of research data and invites authors to publicly place and reference the data they consider in their research, through specialized servers (Xenodo, DataCite, SciELO Data...), so that can be shared and reused, which facilitates the transparency and credibility of the research itself. In the near future, authors will have to upload to the journal's platform, in an attached file (complementary file), the primary data records used if they are not already found on one of such specialized servers.

Opening review: Likewise, in alignment with the principles of open science, Anales conveniently uses open peer arbitration practices as a mechanism to promote transparency in the editorial and scientific communication process. In line with this, authors have the possibility of suggesting possible evaluators for their articles and of interacting directly with the reviewers responsible for evaluating the works. Likewise, on the first page of its articles, Anales publishes the names of the reviewers who agree to make their identity public and the technical editorial team that edited the manuscript. To declare their agreement with open science communication practices and their preferences, authors must fill out a form that they will upload as a complementary file to their submissions so that Anales can apply them accordingly (Conformity with open science practices form).

Charging of Publication Fees and advertising Policy

Anales de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba does not apply charges for processing or publishing articles. This means that the editing and publication of the contributions are completely free for the authors, that the contents are available for free immediately after publication. It is possible to access them freely and universally, at no cost to the reader. (More information at: http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/translations/spanish-translation)

Likewise, the arbitration process is carried out without any type of remuneration for the reviewers.

Finally, there is no commercial or lucrative use of any kind in the journal, nor is commercial advertising accepted or hosted for any product, person or service mentioned in the journal.
