The citizen formation in pedagogical majors. Challenges and the Cuban experience

Abstract

Introduction. This paper deals with one result of the research project Education for citizen life in the educational formation and school, form the contributions of Martí and Fidel (2018-2020), focusing in the concept of Education for citizen life, introduced in the present improving of the National System of Education, as an expression of the Martí concept that Educating is to prepare man for life. The objective was to evaluate the importance of education for citizen life in the Cuban educational context. Methods. The dialectical materialist conception of scientific knowledge contributes the general methodology for the study and transformation of reality; in this case, in the area of social sciences and humanities, and the field of pedagogy as a science for the integral education of personality and the core of education sciences. The logical-historical method was used to highlight the main aspects of the object of study. The synthetic-analytical method was used to study the components and factors involved in this complex formation process. The document analysis and observation were also used. Results and discussion. This study facilitated the systematization of the fundamentals of a pedagogical conception on citizen formation for pedagogical majors, as well as the distinctive aspects of this formation process and their insertion in the curriculum of the Study Program E, as a contribution to improving higher education, for pedagogical majors in this case. This enriches the training of professors majoring in Marxism-Leninism and History for junior and senior high school who teach the subjects of Moral and Citizen Education, Political Culture, and the Ideological Fundamentals of the Cuban Revolution and Socialism Construction.

 Natural de la Habana, Cuba. Trabaja como Docente de la Universidad de C. Pedagógicas “Enrique José Varona” UCPEJV de la Habana. Tiene más de 50 años de experiencia en la educación, más de 40 en ka Educación Superior en la UCPEJV. Ha formado más de 60 máster y 40 doctores en Educación de Cuba y otros países. Dirige proyectos de investigaciones pedagógicas sobre educación ético – moral, en valores y ciudadana desde 1999 hasta la actualidad con resultados satisfactorios y de impacto social en la Educación.

Es Licenciada en Ciencias Políticas en la Universidad de la Habana (1977). Doctora en C. Filosóficas 1996, Doctora en Ciencias 2011, Presidenta fundadora de la Cátedra de Ética Aplicada (1997). Académica Titular de C. Sociales y Humanidades de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba desde 2018. Profesora Honoraria de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (2010). Profesora Emérita de su universidad (2019). Preside la Sub Comisión Nacional de Educación para la vida ciudadana del Ministerio de Educación MINED y es Miembro del Comité Nacional Cubano de Bioética de la UNESCO. Miiembro  de la Sociedad de Investigaciones Filosóficas de Cuba, del Centro Félix Varela y de la Sociedad Económica Amigos del País. Seleccionada para integrar el Consejo Técnico Asesor de la CTC reactivado 2020.  Ha publicado como autora o autora principal 4CD Multimedia (CESOFTE), 23 libros dentro de ellos 2 con editoras internacionales y 6 de Ediciones cubanas MINED para los Congresos de Pedagogía. Participa como coautora de los materiales didácticos del 3er Perfeccionamiento en la disciplina de Educación para la vida ciudadana de Educación Primaria y de Secundaria Básica. Tiene 3 capítulos de libros uno nacional y 2 internacionales. Es la coordinadora y coautora del Tabloide de Ética y Sociedad del curso de Universidad para Todos. Sus resultados investigativos sobre la “Concepción para la Educación en valores” y de la “Educación para la vida ciudadana” se han introducido en el currículo escolar en el perfeccionamiento actual, así como la concepción de la Formación ciudadana en las carreras pedagógicas, en el currículo de la formación de profesores del Plan de Estudios E. Ha recibido las Medallas María de Mendive, Distinción por la Educación Cubana, José Tey, Frank País de 2do y 1er grados y Hazaña Laboral del SNTECD. Es Premio Academia 2016, entre otros premios y reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales.
