Effectiveness of a community intervention guide for couples with indicators of infertility and associated psycological disorders

Introduction: The problem of infertility takes on greater dimension and significance worldwide, with the complex relationships between psychological factors and fertility becoming increasingly evident. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a Community Intervention Guide for couples of reproductive ages with indicators of infertility in the municipality of Banes, in the period from April 2020 to January 2022.
Methods: It was carried out a quasi-experimental research-action and development study from the quantitative-qualitative paradigm. They were selected 75 couples for the experimental group and 80 for the control group by simple random method. For the collection of information, it was applied the CAVIAR, IDARE, IDERE, Cooper-Smith self-esteem inventory. In the statistical processing, it was used McNemar in order to calculate X2.
Results: The high level of psychological well-being prevailed; After the intervention was applied, a decrease to low levels of anxiety and depression was evidenced as a state-trait in the experimental group. It was statistically demonstrated the effectiveness of the guide designed and applied. Conclusions: The research allows us to know how the integration of different therapeutic resources applied in the community intervention guide improves the mental health status of the treated subjects. It can be concluded that in the subjects of the experimental group there is evidence of an increase in the levels of self-esteem, psychological well-being and a decrease in anxiety and depression. The processed data demonstrate that the effectiveness of the guide designed and applied for the study sample is statistically significant.
