OBITUARIO FERNANDO MARTÍNEZ HEREDIA (1939 – 2017)

Abstract

En la madrugada del lunes 12 de junio falleció el conocido intelectual, profesor e investigador Fernando Martínez Heredia, Académico Titular de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba y miembro activo de su Sección de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades. Fernando nació el 21 de enero de 1939 en Yaguajay, actual provincia de Sancti Spíritus y desde muy joven se incorporó activamente en diversas tareas revolucionarias. En la segunda mitad de los años 60 trabajó como Profesor de la Universidad de La Habana, donde fue Director del Departamento de Filosofía de la Facultad de Humanidades y Director de la revista Pensamiento Crítico. En la década de los años 70 fue investigador del Centro de Estudios sobre Europa Occidental y a principios de los ochenta fungió como Agregado Cultural en la Embajada de Cuba en Nicaragua, donde realizó una destacada labor diplomática. Más tarde fue investigador del Centro de Estudios sobre América y desde fines de los años 90 trabajó en el Instituto Cubano de Investigación Cultural Juan Marinello llegando a ser su Director General y Presidente de la Cátedra de Estudios Antonio Gramsci, hasta el momento de su muerte.
