Didactic materials for the socio-educational inclusion of minors with intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder

Introduction: COVID-19 brought new challenges to educators. Attention to students with disabilities became even more complex for teachers and families, who found new methods and strategies in education. In this context, they were developed the first two years of the research project "Guidance and education for families and teachers in the rural sector and vulnerable areas for the educational inclusion of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities or Spectrum Autism Disorders".
Objective: to train and educate teachers and families in order to improve their educational attention to students with these situations of disability.
Method: The work is designed with the use of theoretical and empirical methods, which allowed the initial diagnosis, its permanent updating and the support that made possible to justify the proposals from the psychological, pedagogical and social point of view. The procedure was based on the involvement and leadership of teachers and families, for the selection of content, design and validation of materials.
Results: The main results lie in a better preparation of teachers, and a greater orientation to families regarding the educational attention of their children. It was promoted the exchange and communication between educational agents to influence the students.
Conclusions: The collection of materials prepared to date, responds to the needs that have emerged both at a social level (impact of COVID-19 on this population group) and to deficiencies identified among the families and teachers who systematically participate in each of the groups.
