Digitalization and digital transformation for effective Artificial Intelligence

La Inteligencia Artificial es omnipresente hoy en día. No hay campo, actividad o trabajo que no ceda a la implantación de sistemas basados en ella para lograr, supuestamente, mejor desempeño de sus funciones. Esto puede suponer, en muchas ocasiones, que se aplique cuando y donde no es necesaria o que, si es necesaria, se aplique sin tener en cuenta requisitos, condiciones y términos absolutamente imprescindibles para evitar consecuencias no deseadas. En particular, la digitalización y la transformación digital, aunque a menudo se confunden, no sólo son términos diferentes, sino que corresponden a estados, procesos y momentos distintos.
Es prácticamente imposible acometer la transformación digital de cualquier sistema, ya sea social, administrativo, económico o físico, sin antes digitalizarlo. A pesar de esta prioridad, ambas tareas pueden solaparse, de vez en cuando, sin provocar disfunciones. El objetivo de esta contribución es describir ambos procesos, incluyendo el análisis de las similitudes y diferencias entre los distintos sistemas basados en la inteligencia artificial, que se pueden considerar en la práctica, para hacer finalmente algunas recomendaciones, tanto de carácter general como local.
